Bengaluru-based media technology company Amagi Media Labs reported a nearly 30-fold YoY increase in consolidated net profit to ₹74.8 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹2.5 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The sharp improvement came as revenue growth outpaced expenses, alongside lower employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) costs and a reduced effective tax rate.
Revenue from operations increased 27% to ₹475.8 crore in the September quarter, against ₹374.8 crore in Q2 FY26. Sequentially, revenue grew 8.9% from ₹436.9 crore in Q1 FY27, while net profit rose 120.7% from ₹33.9 crore.
Founded in 2008 by Baskar Subramanian, Srividhya Srinivasan and Arunachalam Srinivasan Karapattu (Srini), Amagi provides cloud-based software that enables media companies to produce, distribute and monetise television and streaming content.
Including other income of ₹26.1 crore, Amagi's total income reached ₹501.9 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹389.6 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Amagi's EBITDA Margin Expands To 18.7%
Amagi's total expenses increased approximately 9% YoY to ₹419.3 crore from ₹384.5 crore, significantly slower than its 27% revenue growth.
Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled, rising 114% YoY to ₹89.1 crore. Its adjusted EBITDA margin expanded 7.6 percentage points to 18.7%.
The improvement was partly supported by lower ESOP-related expenses, which declined to ₹25.4 crore from ₹45 crore in Q2 FY26.
The company's effective tax rate also fell to 9.4% from around 50% a year earlier. Amagi attributed this to carried-forward losses in India offsetting a larger share of its profit base.
Other income increased 75.7% to ₹26.1 crore, primarily supported by returns on IPO proceeds invested in fixed deposits and mutual funds.
However, the company cautioned that Q2 margins benefited from the timing of planned senior-level hiring, with some associated costs expected to be incurred in subsequent quarters. It indicated that the first-half adjusted EBITDA margin of 15.3% provides a more representative near-term baseline.
Content Delivery And Advertising Business Expand
Amagi's operational performance also reflected growing adoption of its cloud-based media infrastructure.
Cumulative hours of content processed since inception increased 43% to 1 million hours. Channel deliveries grew 29% to 10,787, while its distributor network expanded 24% to 477.
The company also recorded a 65% increase in monetised advertising impressions to 16 billion during the quarter.
Amagi operates across three key business verticals: streaming unification, monetisation and marketplace, and cloud modernisation.
Its cloud-based platform enables broadcasters and streaming businesses to manage content distribution, advertising operations and broadcast infrastructure without relying entirely on traditional on-premise systems.
The company said its priorities for the remainder of FY27 include sustaining revenue growth, improving operating leverage and strengthening cash conversion, while continuing investments in artificial intelligence, technology and product development.
Amagi Strengthens Its Board With New Appointments
Alongside its quarterly results, Amagi's board approved two leadership appointments.
Dr. Bhaskar Ghosh, former chief strategy and innovation officer at Accenture, has been appointed as an additional non-executive independent director for three years, subject to shareholder approval.
The board also approved the appointment of Srividhya Srinivasan, Amagi's promoter and chief technology officer, as a whole-time director for five years. She will continue to hold the CTO designation.
Both appointments are subject to shareholder approval.
Amagi's latest results highlight the financial potential of cloud-based media technology as broadcasters and streaming platforms increasingly adopt digital infrastructure and advertising monetisation solutions.
However, sustaining its improved profitability will depend on maintaining revenue momentum while absorbing planned hiring and technology investments in the coming quarters.
