Online travel company MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based shared mobility platform Quick Ride, marking its entry into the ride-pooling segment and expanding its presence in India's urban transportation market.

Announced on November 6, 2026, the acquisition gives MakeMyTrip access to Quick Ride's technology-led platform, which connects commuters travelling along similar routes for shared car rides and everyday office journeys. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

The acquisition is aimed at strengthening MakeMyTrip's existing ground transportation business by adding high-frequency daily commuting and intercity ride-pooling services to its travel ecosystem.

Quick Ride's Ride-Pooling Business Moves Under New Entity

Founded in 2015 by KNM Rao, Quick Ride operates an asset-light mobility platform that connects people travelling along similar routes, allowing them to share available vehicle capacity and reduce commuting costs.

The company also follows an enterprise-led business model, working with corporates, IT parks and business campuses to facilitate employee transportation and daily commuting.

As part of an internal restructuring, Quick Ride's brand and ride-pooling operations have been transferred to a newly formed entity, Co Ride Mobility Private Limited. MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake in this entity.

Quick Ride's existing promoters will continue to lead the business following the transaction. However, its earlier electric vehicle (EV) taxi operations will remain with the predecessor entity, iDisha Info Labs Private Limited.

MakeMyTrip Plans To Leverage redBus Experience

Commenting on the acquisition, Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, said the investment would help the company enter high-frequency urban commuting while complementing its existing transportation offerings.

Quick Ride will operate under MakeMyTrip's ground transport business. The company plans to leverage its experience in building redBus across India and international markets to expand the shared mobility platform.

Prakash Sangam, CEO of redBus and Head of Ground Transport at MakeMyTrip, said the acquisition would allow the group to serve customers across a wider range of travel requirements, from daily office commutes to intercity journeys.

KNM Rao, Founder and CEO of Quick Ride, said joining the MakeMyTrip group would provide the platform with access to the travel company's reach and operational experience to scale its business further.

MakeMyTrip Expands Through Strategic Acquisitions

Founded in 2000 by Deep Kalra, MakeMyTrip has expanded from an online travel booking platform into a broader travel technology business spanning flights, hotels, holiday packages and ground transportation.

The company has followed an acquisition-led expansion strategy to strengthen its presence across different travel categories.

Its previous transactions include Savaari in the car rental segment, Happay in corporate travel and expense management, and Flamingo Transworld in regional holiday packages. It has also made a strategic minority investment in visa-processing platform Atlys.

The Quick Ride acquisition adds another category to this portfolio, extending MakeMyTrip's reach beyond conventional travel bookings into everyday urban mobility.

For MakeMyTrip, the opportunity lies in connecting occasional travel requirements with recurring commuting needs. Daily ride pooling could create more frequent customer interactions, while its existing travel brands provide distribution capabilities to support expansion.

However, scaling shared mobility will depend on building sufficient commuter density across routes, maintaining reliable ride availability and attracting both passengers and vehicle owners.

With Quick Ride joining its ground transportation portfolio, MakeMyTrip is taking another step towards building a wider mobility ecosystem that serves customers across everyday commutes and longer-distance travel.
